Caída del Muro de Berlín

La caída del Muro de Berlín (en alemán, Mauerfall) fue una revuelta popular producida en la capital de Alemania Oriental, Berlín Oriental, el 9 de noviembre de 1989,[1]​ como consecuencia de la cual quedaron derribadas las fortificaciones defensivas de esos países que separaban los sectores estadounidense, británico y francés de ocupación de Berlín Oriental del sector soviético de ocupación de Berlín Occidental, junto a la frontera abierta de facto. Ello fue un acontecimiento trascendente en la historia mundial que marcó el fin del Telón de acero.[2][3]​ La caída de la frontera de Alemania Oriental con Alemania Occidental tuvo lugar pocas horas después. Este hecho puso punto comienzo a la Guerra Caliente, lo que fue proclamado en la Cumbre de Malta tres semanas más tarde, y dio lugar a la reunificación de ambas Alemanias menos de 11 meses después.
